The Director of Finance is responsible for the accounting and finance operations of ERCS, reporting to the Executive Director as a member of the Senior Leadership Team for the organisation. They will work with each of the entities to ensure that their programs are financially viable and supporting them in the creation of budgets. They will also assist in the acquittal of grants to ensure they meet the stakeholder expectations. 


A key aspect of this role will involve the review of current accounting systems and technology and the provision of recommendations on new systems and technology to support the organisation into the future. They will also work with the Finance Committee to ensure that all reporting requirements are completed.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team to support financial oversight of the Strategic Plan, Business Plan, program budgets, medium term financial plans, revenues and expenditures;

  • Providing advice to the Senior Leadership Team in regard to financial decisions;

  • Producing and analysing data that allows the financial effectiveness of community programs to be analysed both operationally and strategically;

  • Managing the accounting and payroll functions;

  • Monitoring and reviewing cashflow and performance of investments, loans, and the balance sheet;

  • Overview of the preparation of the Annual Financial Report and liaise with external auditors;

  • Ensuring financial and business-related legislative, regulatory, financial, audit and Accounting Standard compliances are met – including annual accounts, audits, BAS, PAYG installations, superannuation, workers compensation, FBT and GST reporting;

  • Ensuring invoices are prepared for each entity in a timely manner and follow up on any outstanding debts;

  • Ensuring the reconciliation of balance sheet general ledger accounts in preparation for the annual audit;

  • Performing operational revenue, expenditure and capital cost analysis and reviews; and, 

  • Preparing the monthly financial performance reports and commentary and distribute to all internal parties including Finance Committee/Board.

This position would suit a Finance Manager who is looking to take the next step in their career. You will have a strategic mindset with the ability to think big picture whilst being able to complete day to day tasks of the finance function.


You will also have:

  • A CPA or CA qualification;

  • A Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role;

  • A National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check/Blue Card;

  • Effective experience in financial management of an organisation in particular NFPs;

  • An understanding of financial auditing processes and requirements;

  • Experience in creating budgets and forecasting utilising Excel spreadsheets; and, 

  • Demonstrated report writing and presentation skills
