The Edmund Rice Formation Team has been established by the Christian Brothers Oceania Province. It exists to create innovative ways of enabling and enriching the vision, mission and values in collaboration with staff, volunteers and board members engaged in the work of the Province Support Centres and a diverse range of Edmund Rice Ministries across Oceania Province.


The Formation Team takes responsibility for developing and facilitating formation programs and experiences that aim to deepen the understanding and inspiration of a contemporary Edmund Rice culture and spirituality within all these entities, contextualised in light of stories of origin and contemporary social geographic location.


We seek to create brave spaces in order to reflect on life and organisational culture in light of mission and values and in the context of contemporary trends, developing human sensitivities and the ecology of the human heart. These contemporary trends include an overarching and informing culture of critical conversation, ecological integrity, non-dualism, inclusivity, cross-cultural critique and decolonising shifts, transformative change processes and the utilisation of principles of subsidiarity through generative listening processes.

The position is fulltime and for a maximum term of three years, including a 6-month probation period commencing January 2023.

About the Role

The Formation team member will work collaboratively within a dynamic team, building relationships, planning, developing, and delivering effective formation programs and experiences that will respond to the developmental, diverse, and expressed needs of Province personnel.


The programs will deepen an appreciation and contemporary understanding of expressions of the Edmund Rice charism and current Chapter directions as informed by story; the earth story, First Nations wisdom, what lies at the heart of the Christian story and other human aligned, inspiring narratives. Our community holds a commitment to implementing the Laudato Si Action Platform, and associated ecological conversion within our network, the team member will contribute to this ongoing conversation.


The team member will be open to exploring the emerging spirituality shaped by the Universe Story, the place of Jesus of Nazareth, the gospel mandates, and the Edmund Rice story within a larger story context.
